Miami Graffiti

August 2007
1) What do you write and what crew do you represent?

Crome : MSG TSC KOI IMK 28

2) Where did you get your tag? Any special meaning behind it?

From old Cypress Hill songs. They were always talking about "hand on the chrome", etc.

3) When did you start writing and what were some of your early influences?

I started out around 1991. My early influences were Gbee (RIP), Sege (RIP), and Cope frome Miami. Also guys in 7UP, TVC, Inkheads, and even FS/STV crews.

4) What is your favorite Penit/Wall and why?

The Marina Penit. Its right on the water, with dope views. Where else they got shit like that?

5) Name a Miami writers work that you respect a lot (thats not in your crew/associated crews) and why?

I like the stuff that Typoe and the TCP's are doing. They're good artists, and the shit they are doing is different.

6) Any good stories about a time you got chased or busted?

So many its hard to pick one... We got chased one time at Agripost. Sege and I and a bunch of others were painting outside the penit. Metro rushes us and starts screaming at us "Stop running pussies!", so we all ran. Sege and two others jumped over the fence to the landmark HRS spot that was next door to the penit. I ran thru the forest nearby and ended up losing my shoe in the mud. So I ended up on 57th Ave. and walked all the way around with one dirty ass sock. Eventually I catch up with Sege and them, and they had ended up jumping over the fence and then walking around the HRS spot. Security pulled up on them and asked what they were doing. Sege told the security that they were looking for snakes. Shit was funny! Then the security guy hits the walkie talkie etc. and they ran and got away.. damn, still much more than that.... I could write a movie.

7) Whats the biggest problem with Toys nowadays?

"Toy", I never really believed in the word. I was a so called "toy", so is anyone whos new and green to the graff game. Its just some of these young niggas be on some gangsta wanna be shit. They wanna be in a gang for that, be 'bout it. This is graff, aren't to many killas around here. But whatever, these niggas be dissing shit on the house. I haven't ever been one to cross anyones shit out. Dont get me wrong though, I'd just rather deal with it direct, straight up. I'm too old for that shit. Do your thing, I do mine. But you got some toys nowadays that are like "I'll cross this nigga out for fame", then they brag to their dawgs like "fuck this nigga, I crossed him out". You know the ones. Everyone be talkin about shit for fame. But they're like "Oh I'll never see this nigga or that nigga" etc. So they do it with a feeling that there are no consequences. Thats a toy, fuckin up art. We should be ballin on these crakahs and walls, not each other, thats why there isn't as much graff as there should be.

8) You've been close to two very legendary Miami Graffiti artists that have passed away, care to share some thoughts or memories about Beno and Sege

Seger was a straight natural graff artist. That nigga had the knack, while others like us have to work it forever. You couldn't hate him if you knew him, he was a likeable ass nigga who loved graff. First and best major Seminole graff nigga. One of the first MSG founders. Beno was a crazy ass, dick pulling out on hoes, story telling, crazy looking, wierd nigga. A great artist. The nigga died for this. Thats real shit. This graff shit was life to them.

9) What do you think of the Graf Scene in South Florida and Where do you think its headed?

Man, South Florida has so much motherfucking beef. Nobody likes each other. When you go to other cities and check their graf, shit ain't as bad as far as I know. People need to put in more work down here. Shit gets buffed so much because there isn't enough out there. The cops can keep control of the city by just buffing the little bit people are doing.

Theres a big freight thing going on now, which is cool. But people need to put in more work in the hood too. Style wise at least, we all down here pretty much have diffrent styles. But in a lot of other cities, peoples styles all look like each others. Hopefully this city is headed for bigger thangs, ya dig? If everyone quits hating on each other, shit, we might actually have someones shit ride for more than a week or two..

RIP: Gbee, Beno, Sege, Yanari and all the other fallen artists. Be easy.
